Under a Scorching Sun (previously Nabataea) Interview
Q: Chrissie, what inspired you to write Nabataea? A: Nabataea was the first book I ever had published. My love of history, archaeology and my visit to Petra inspired me to write it. I wanted to be able to show readers the beauty of the place merged with a great story.
Q: What research was involved in writing Nabataea? A: There was a lot of research involved. I was able to use my experience of visiting Petra, along with video footage of our trip and photos I took. I also had to do a lot of research though, not only on the site itself, but who had built it and why, and the people who had lived there and what their lives were like.
Q: Which one of your characters fromNabataea would you go travelling with? A: I think I would choose top go travelling with Tom, he's very well travelled, full of great tips about how things work and how to keep yourself safe and well when travelling. His knowledge of the world is incredible! I definitely wouldn't choose Cassie or Dane - if you've read the book you'll understand why!
Q:Do you have a favourite or special story you’d like to share about the journey to write and publishNabataea? A: This was the first book I had published. Whilst it didn't go according to plan, and I'm no longer with the publisher, I learned a lot and am so happy to still be writing and publishing! I'm really happy that readers will be able to read this story again soon under a new title!
Q: And finally, as a reader what should we expect fromNabataea? A: Unfortunately Nabataea is no longer available to buy as it I'm not longer with the publisher. I will be republishing it under a new name - Under a Scorching Sun - soon though! So, when you do get round to reading it, you will discover and exciting, fast paced read, that couples the murky world of black market artefact and looting with an archaeological discovery in Petra!
On location in Petra and Aqaba!
Both Petra and Aqaba are incredible. Whilst on our honeymoon, my husband and I border hopped, and enjoyed a great time exploring, Israel and Jordan. We took a trip to Petra and explored the ancient site learning all about its history and why it's located where it is. In Aqaba, we explored the gulf, watching dolphins swim, snorkelling with some very exotic fish and we even explored the old fort on Crusader Island, off the coast of Sinai. The photos below are some of the images from visit.
